Cumberland, R.I. (Jan. 15, 2009) – Alesis, the world’s leading manufacturer of professional audio equipment and studio electronics, announces that ProTrack, the world’s first handheld professional-audio recorder for iPod, is now shipping. Accessories for mounting the ProTrack on standard camera tripods and a tabletop tripod are also available.
Users can capture live audio anywhere and anytime, as the ProTrack provides direct-to-iPod, stereo, digital recording in a portable, handheld form. The ProTrack’s design integrates the iPod into the recorder, and clear, protective covers securely mount the user’s iPod to the recorder.
Consumers can record detailed, stereo audio using the ProTrack’s onboard dual condenser microphones, which are fixed in XY-stereo configuration for reliable stereo imaging. Users can also connect a wide variety of microphones and line-level audio sources using the pair of combination XLR – 1/4-inch inputs. The ProTrack supplies 48V phantom power so that it can control (?) professional condenser microphones.
Musicians and recording engineers alike will appreciate ProTrack’s LED metering for visual level monitoring, along with the unit’s stereo headphone output for audio monitoring. The recorder features a switchable limiter, individual left and right-channel gains and an iPod charge switch that enables the iPod to be charged while the ProTrack is connected to AC power.
The ProTrack has a threaded mounting point for use with the optional ProTrack Tripod, a small, folding tabletop tripod, and the ProTrack Adapter, an adjustable conduit for mounting the ProTrack on a camera tripod.
“Given our experience in developing a line of pro-level gear that integrates with iPod, it made sense for Alesis to be the first to offer a handheld professional recorder for iPod,” said Mark Frederick, VP Sales and Marketing.
ProTrack records to iPod Classic 7th and 6th generation, 5th-generation iPod, 3rd and 2nd-generation iPod nano, 2nd-generation iPod Touch, and iPod nano-chromatic.
